Window Film Care

To protect and maintain the finish of your window film we recommend using a Global Tint microfibre cloth. You can use this either dry as a duster, or with a spray and wipe method. Split microfibre is positively charged, which makes it work like a magnet attracting negatively charged dust particles. This allows the cloth to attract and hold dirt/dust, rather than just pushing it around like a cotton cloth would.

Windows Up

Keep Windows Up For 7 Days

It’s crucial to keep your windows up for at least 7 days after tint installation. This is because the film is still curing during this period—it’s applied using a water-based solution and remains wet underneath.

Rolling the windows down too soon can cause the edges to lift or peel before the adhesive has fully bonded to the glass. Once the film dries and cures completely, it will form a secure, forever-lasting hold.

Allowing the full drying time ensures the tint stays perfectly in place and delivers a flawless finish. Patience here is key to protecting your investment.

Tinting Aftercare

The Drying Out Process

After window film installation, it’s normal to see bubbles, slight imperfections, or haze—these are all part of the drying process. As moisture evaporates, the film settles and clears. These effects meet accepted guidelines from the International Window Film Association (IWFA), which outlines industry standards for curing times.

Note: colder weather may extend drying times. Global Tint is Europe’s leading automotive window tinting company, and we follow the highest standards to ensure top-tier results.

Water Bubbles

Water bubbles are a normal part of the drying process after window film installation. We apply the film using a solution that contains water to help position the film perfectly. As the film cures and the moisture evaporates, these bubbles will gradually disappear. It’s completely expected, and no action is needed—just allow time for the film to settle and dry out fully.

Imperfections

Minor imperfections can sometimes be seen in window film if viewed very closely, but these are considered acceptable under industry standards. Similar to paint on a vehicle, small specs or dust particles are unavoidable in any aftermarket installation. From a normal viewing distance, these should not be visible and do not affect the film’s performance or clarity.

Dot-Matrix

Dot-matrix patterns are a factory-applied ceramic frit found on some vehicle windows, not all. Because they sit slightly raised on the glass, the film cannot fully conform into the spaces between each dot. As the film dries, it may initially look hazy or uneven in those areas, but this will even out over time, resulting in a more uniform appearance.

Result

Scratches

Most vehicles develop light scratches on their windows over time. These can result from dirt trapped in window seals or scraping ice in winter. While often unnoticed, these scratches may become more visible after tint installation, as the film reduces light transmission and highlights imperfections already present on the glass.

Tinting Expectations

Customers frequently inspect every inch after a tint installation for the very first time, and may notice small marks or blemishes on the outside of the glass that were there beforehand but never caught their eye—often because, for the first time, they’re looking at the glass instead of through it, which is understandable while they’re inspecting their newly tinted glass.

It’s important to remember that all of our window films are installed on the inside of the glass.

Warranty Terms

In the unlikely event that the window film application should experience an adhesive failure such as cracking, glazing, delamination, peeling, excessive or unusual colour change or any other failure due to a manufacturer’s defect, then your Global Tint Installer will provide a replacement.

Your Global Tint Installer shall not be liable for any loss, damage, expense or cost caused or partially caused through improper film care, cleaning, abuse or glass breakage.

We are committed to your satisfaction and will address any concerns you may have promptly and professionally.
