How Your Pets Can Benefit From Tinted Car Windows

Many of us treat our pets like family—we sleep in one room with them, look forward to coming home to them, and sometimes, let them tag along in trips. While there is no problem with bringing them to road trips, sometimes, the danger is when the car stops, the owners get out of the vehicle, and leave the poor pet inside.

Not every pet owner knows the dangers of leaving their pets inside a parked car. Many would assume that if its not that hot outside, or if it’s just for a couple of minutes—locking them inside would be fine. You cracked the window just enough for some air to go in and out, that’s safe right? Wrong. In fact, a few minutes can draw the line between life and death.

Cars can be oven for your pets!

Parked cars are deathtraps for dogs. It literally takes only minutes for a pet left in a vehicle on a warm day to succumb to heatstroke and suffocation. Pets are more vulnerable to high temperature.Animals are not like humans who sweat in order to release body heat. Dogs cool themselves by panting and by sweating through their paws. Imagine how fast the air inside a locked car be if all air they have for breathing is carbon dioxide? They can collapse, suffer brain damage and possibly die of heatstroke. What makes matters worse is that in under 15 minutes, your pet’s body temperature to climb from a normal 102.5 to deadly levels that will damage the nervous and cardiovascular systems, often leaving the animal comatose, dehydrated and at risk of permanent impairment or death.

As a matter of fact, each minute that passes means increased danger for your dog, who can become overheated and suffer from heat stroke in a matter of minutes. Given a few moments, a car can be an oven for your dog. The temperature inside your vehicle can rise almost 20º F in just 10 minutes, and could climb up to 30º F a couple minutes more.

The longer our little furry friend is in there, the higher risk you put them in to. In some cases, and varying circumstances, they can even go into cardiac arrest and die.

Are they comfortable?

Some may also argue that leaving their pet behind inside their cars is okay, as long as the engine is running and the conditioning works just fine. But, on a sunny and very warm day, the full blasting air-conditioning cannot improve their comfort due to their thick coats of fur and hair. It is also advisable that dogs or cats stay at the back of the car in their crates. Unfortunately, although it is for their safety, the cool air might not be getting there, making the whole ride uncomfortable for them. Imagine if you’re in the road for more than three hours? What supposed to be an enjoyable trip for your furry friend may turn out to be one of the most stressful days of their life.

Pets vs. UV Rays

Pets can feel the effects of the harmful UV rays too! Dogs can get cataracts, Pannus, and other eye issues because of prolonged exposure to the sun. They can even experience sun burns too! Especially those with light or white colored fur. While pets naturally have protection from their fur, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t affected by these harmful rays.

What tints can do

Tinting your car windows does not only keep the environment inside the car comfortable and pleasing for you, but for your furry companions as well. Did you know that tints help regulate and lower the temperature inside a car, especially on a warmer day? Car window tints reject 50% solar energy/heat, and blocks as well as up to 99% of UV rays, which can be equally harmful for all the passengers inside the vehicle, regardless of species. Having your car windows tinted makes it far safer and more comfortable inside the car for both you and your pets.
